Suzhou Creator Patent & Trademark Agency Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “CreatorIP”) was founded in 1988. Formerly known as the “Suzhou Patent Office”, a government-owned entity under the Suzhou Science and Technology Commission, CreatorIP stands as Suzhou’s first patent agency and is one of China’s earliest intellectual property service providers specialized in patent agency.
The headquarters of CreatorIP is located in Gusu District, Suzhou, with branch offices in Shanghai, Zhangjiagang, Changshu, Taicang and Wujiang, and an investment in Suzhou Yingbo Road Technology Consulting Co., Ltd. For over thirty years since its inception, CreatorIP has remained dedicated to fostering and safeguarding innovation. Rooted in Suzhou, the company focuses on meeting the intellectual property and policy needs of local research institutions, technology-based enterprises and public institutions, and brand companies in Suzhou. The company’s services span across three dimensions: policy, technology, and law, encompassing a wide range of intellectual property and technology project services, such as consulting, planning, application agency, rights protection litigation, analysis and evaluation, license transfer, and training.
Currently, CreatorIP has more than 100 employees. The intellectual property team comprises over 70 members, more than 80% specialized in intellectual property. This includes 35 full-time practicing patent attorneys, 20 of whom have qualifications for litigation agency (ranking as the top patent agency in Suzhou and among the top five in Jiangsu Province), 6 patent engineers who have obtained the qualification of patent attorneys, 4 trademark attorneys, and 4 intellectual property advisors with legal qualifications. The composition of intellectual property professionals is well-structured and robust, over 50% of them graduating from 211/985/Double First-Class universities, predominantly holding master degrees, and two members having doctoral degrees. Their expertise is in a range of industries including mechanical engineering, biomedicine, chemistry, materials science, physics, electronics, and communications. They spent eight years averagely in IP industry, with approximately 30% having more than a decade of professional experience.
Since its establishment, CreatorIP has been committed to providing comprehensive intellectual property solutions for domestic and international clients, achieving remarkable success. In the realm of patent applications, as of the end of 2022, CreatorIP has represented over 6,000 domestic and international applicants in filing for more than 37,000 Chinese invention patents, over 2,000 PCT international patents and foreign patents, as well as over 500 cases related to patent invalidation and litigation. The grant rate [the number of granted invention patent applications (A) divided by the sum of granted invention applications (A) and rejected invention applications(B)] exceeds 70% for all the concluded Chinese invention patent applications.
In terms of intellectual property analysis, as of the end of 2022, CreatorIP has provided more than 1,000 patent analysis and consulting services for over 200 entities, including over 300 FTO analyses and patent avoidance design analyses, over 100 patent navigations, competitive profile, patent maps, warnings, and various thematic analyses.
Regarding patent technology transfer, CreatorIP has actively explored technology transfer services since 2012, accumulating significant experience. As of the end of 2022, CreatorIP has been involved in more than 500 patent technology transfer and patent assignment transactions, playing a crucial or important role in at least 5 of these transactions.
In the aspect of government-led intellectual property projects, as of the end of 2022, CreatorIP has undertaken or participated in implementing more than 70 intellectual property projects at various levels, serving as the project applicant or co-applicant. These projects encompass over 10 provincial-level intellectual property projects (including 3 high-value projects) and more than 60 Suzhou municipal intellectual property projects, covering activities such as patent navigation, intellectual property station promotion, intellectual property trust, Peaking Action Plan, demonstration enterprises of intellectual property, advantageous intellectual property enterprises, and the cultivation of intellectual property-intensive products.
